CAA
Engine-level cognitive profiling — how well your mind actually processes information, mapped across the full pipeline. Deliberately not IQ.
What it is
CAA is Tricellix’s own instrument, and it asks a different question from every system above it. The personality systems describe how your mind is configured; CAA measures the engine itself — the raw processing quality of the brain, in isolation from what it knows or how it is pointed.
It maps cognition across the full information pipeline — Collection, then Processing, then Utilization — scoring dozens of distinct sub-capacities plus four cross-cutting properties of the engine as a whole. The output is a multi-dimensional cognitive profile, a primary and secondary archetype drawn from the shape of that profile, and a capacity tier.
It is deliberately not an IQ test. There are no population percentiles and no clinical distribution — scores sit on internal capacity bands, and the frame is self-knowledge and strategic development, not a number to rank yourself by.
The information pipeline
Taking information in — visual, linguistic, numerical and auditory intake, attention control, and fidelity under noise.
The core work — filtering and relevance, pattern recognition, reasoning, memory, spatial manipulation and integration. The largest stage.
Turning processed information into output — analysis, strategic thinking, problem-solving and execution.
Four properties of the engine as a whole — speed, consistency, load tolerance and endurance — read across all three stages.
What it produces
From the shape of your profile CAA assigns a primary and secondary cognitive archetype — a compact description of how your particular engine tends to operate — from a taxonomy of thirty-six. It also places you in a capacity tier (Elite, Strong, Functional, Developing or Limited) that expresses magnitude without ever invoking an IQ scale.
The Deep tier adds a written synthesis of how your engine runs at its best, where it systematically slows or fails, and the few sub-capacities that would give the highest leverage if developed. Your archetype and profile are revealed by taking the assessment — the method that produces them stays private.
Going deeper
Real-world performance is engine × domain knowledge × skills × context. An IQ score blurs those together into one number; CAA deliberately isolates the first factor — the raw processing quality of the brain — and describes it, rather than ranking you against a population. That is why it uses capacity bands, never percentiles, and original items rather than clinical test derivatives.
The archetype is not read off a single score — it is read off the shape of your whole profile: which stages and sub-capacities run strong, which lag, and how they combine. That shape maps to a primary and a secondary archetype from a taxonomy of thirty-six, plus a capacity tier for magnitude. The exact mapping is the instrument’s private machinery; what you receive is the conclusion.
Magnitude is expressed as one of five bands — Elite, Strong, Functional, Developing, Limited — describing how much engine is present without ever invoking an IQ classification. A tier situates you; the sub-capacity profile tells you the far more useful part: the specific shape of how you think.
Speed, consistency, load tolerance and endurance describe the engine’s temperament rather than its power. A fast-but-inconsistent engine, a slow-deep one that holds under load, a sprinter that fades late — these read completely differently even at the same tier, and often matter more for real work than raw capacity.
Taking information in — across every channel, with attention and fidelity.
The intake stage: extracting signal from visual, linguistic, numerical and auditory input, directing and sustaining attention under competing demands, shifting between detail and whole, and holding fidelity when the input is degraded or incomplete. Everything downstream depends on what gets in.
What’s inside
Eight sub-capacities: external intake across four channels (visual, linguistic, numerical, auditory), internal sensing (how accurately you read your own state), attention control, the ability to shift between detail and whole, and fidelity when the input is degraded or incomplete.
The failure mode
Collection is the silent bottleneck — a powerful processor fed bad or partial input produces confident, wrong conclusions. Weak intake or attention caps everything downstream, no matter how strong the later stages are.
The core work — filtering, reasoning, memory, pattern and integration.
The largest stage, where most cognition happens: filtering relevance from noise, recognising patterns, reasoning across steps, manipulating information in memory and space, and integrating it all into a coherent model. This is the heart of the engine.
What’s inside
Twenty-four sub-capacities across filtering and relevance-weighting, pattern recognition, multi-step reasoning, working and long-term memory, spatial manipulation, and integration — binding it all into one coherent model. The largest stage, because this is where most cognition actually happens.
How to read it
Processing strength splits along lines that matter: some engines excel at pattern and integration (seeing the whole) but tire at step-by-step reasoning; others are the reverse. The sub-capacity breakdown is where two people at the same tier stop resembling each other.
Turning processed information into decisions and action.
The output stage: analysis, strategic thinking, problem-solving and execution — converting a processed model of a situation into a decision and a move. A strong engine that never reaches this stage produces insight without effect.
What’s inside
Fourteen sub-capacities across analysis, strategic thinking, problem-solving (linking ideas, adapting patterns, filling gaps), execution, and timing — deploying the right move at the right moment, including knowing when not to act.
The failure mode
Utilization is where insight becomes effect — or doesn’t. A strong Collection–Processing engine with weak Utilization sees clearly and acts poorly: rich analysis that never converts into a decision or a move.
How fast information moves through the pipeline.
Derived from response times on speeded items across every stage — the raw pace of the engine, read separately from its accuracy.
Stability of performance across same-difficulty items.
Whether the engine performs evenly or erratically at a fixed difficulty — a read on reliability, and a flag for distraction or inconsistency.
How performance holds as difficulty rises.
The delta across difficulty tiers — a fast-shallow engine that fades under load reads very differently from a slow-deep one that holds.
How performance changes from early to late in the test.
The fatigue-versus-warm-up profile — whether the engine tires as the work goes on or settles into its stride.
The archetypes · 36
CAA resolves the shape of your cognitive profile into a primary and a secondary archetype from these thirty-six. Each names a characteristic way an engine operates — a specialisation, not a rank. Your own pair, and how they amplify or destabilise each other, are read from your full profile.

CAA is a cognitive capacity profile for self-knowledge and strategic development — not a clinical assessment, and not valid for educational placement, employment screening or diagnosis. It measures the engine only: real-world performance is engine × domain knowledge × skills × context, and CAA scopes itself honestly to the first factor.
